Iran, Germany mull over latest regional issues

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister in a telephone call with German counterpart discussed the latest situation in Afghanistan, criticizing the White House's policy toward the region.

Iran PressIran news: Amir-Abdollahian stated that the US politicians do not have a proper understanding of the region and its people, especially Iran, adding: "They should know that they can only speak with the language of respect and logic."

During the talks, Heiko Maas called for the start of Vienna talks as soon as possible, stressing his country's readiness to fully promote bilateral relations.

While discussing developments in Afghanistan with his Iranian counterpart, the German Foreign Minister thanked Amir-Abdollahian for facilitating the transfer of German nationals from Afghanistan.

The Iranian FM advised the European Troika to change their behavior and to end inaction in fulfilling their obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He also called on Germany to finalize the negotiations for sending the BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Amir-Abdollahian noted: "The principle of the Vienna talks is acceptable and will take place, but we accept a negotiation that will lead to the real lifting of sanctions and the provision of Iranian rights."
