Chairman of Sports Federation for the Disabled:

Tehran (IP) - The Chairman of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Sports Federation for the Disabled (IRISFD) says the results gained by the athletes in Tokyo Paralympics 2020 show that there was still a chance to snatch more medals.

Iran PressIran news: Attending the welcoming ceremony of the first group of athletes returning home from the Tokyo Paralympics, Shervin Asbaghian said the results of the Iranian sports squad at the Tokyo Paralympics showed that the athletes had achieved better results than the 2016 Rio Olympics.  

"Iranian athletes in sitting volleyball and para-shooting still have a chance to grab medals," Asbaghian added.

The sports official also said IRISFD was preparing to participate in Bahrain 2021 Asian Youth Para Games, China National Youth Games, and Paris Paralympics 2024. 

The Iranian squad is ranked 12th in Tokyo Paralympic Games with 8 gold, 7 silver, and 1 bronze medal.

The 2020 Tokyo Paralympics started on August 24 will last until September 5.
