Sri Lanka eyeing on strengthening ties with Tehran during tenure of new Iran's FM

Tehran (IP) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka sent a message to the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulating him on the start of his tenure by the Government and people of Sri Lanka.

Iran PressAsia: Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Gamini Lakshman Peiris sent a message to Foreign Minister Hussein Amir- Abdollahian congratulating him on receiving a vote of confidence.

The message reads: "The appointment to this important position shows the trust of senior Iranian officials in your excellency, and this stems from your deep knowledge, negotiation skills, and experience capital in the field of diplomacy and international relations."

In his message, he expressed hope: "During the tenure of Amir-Abdollahian as Foreign Minister, we will witness the development and strengthening of the old friendly relations between the two countries."
