Two Iranian women in list of most popular athletes at Tokyo Paralympics

Tokyo (IP) - The Asian Paralympic Committee named Zahra Nemati and Sareh Javanmardi as two of the most popular Iranian athletes at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Iran PressAsia: Zahra Nemati, the Iranian archer in the Tokyo Paralympic Games, is aiming for a historic third gold medal at the Paralympic Games. Zahra Nemati could set a Paralympic record in archery in London 2012 and participated in both the Olympics and the Paralympics at the Rio 2016 Games.

Zahra Nemati is also one of Iran's flag bearers at Tokyo 2020.

Also, Sareh Javanmardi, the Iranian National Paralympic shooter with two Paralympic gold medals and three world championship titles, is another famous athlete.

Javanmardi won the 2018 World Paralympic Championships in South Korea and the Asian Para Games in Indonesia. With her recent form at the Al Ain 2021 World Cup where she equaled the world record to win the P2 title, Javanmardi seems ready to defend her Paralympic titles in Tokyo. 

The opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympic Games will start at 15:30 today Tehran time (11:00 GMT) at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.

4400 athletes from 162 countries will compete in the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
