Jordan announces official readiness to export electricity, help export oil to Lebanon

Lebanon (IP)- After the Lebanese Hezbollah Secretary General's speech on buying fuel from Iran and the US ambassador's quick response to the move, Jordan officially announced that it was ready to export electricity and Egyptian oil to the country.

Iran Press/ Middle East: Following a letter from the US ambassador in Beirut to the Lebanese president, Jordan on Thursday evening officially announced its readiness to export the country's electricity as well as gas from Egypt to Lebanon.

"Assistance to Lebanon and its people was at the forefront of the issues raised by King Abdullah II during his recent visit to the United States. This was in response to a question about the possibility of exporting electricity from Jordan to Lebanon and Egyptian gas via Jordan and Syria to that country," Hala Zawati, Jordan Minister of Energy noted.

"These issues were recently discussed intensively with the brothers in Lebanon, Syria and Egypt, as well as with the United States and our partners in the international community," the Jordanian energy minister highlighted.

"We are doing everything we can to help our brothers," she said, noting that discussions and exchanges continue on how to achieve this goal.
