Millions of Muslims around the world are commemorating Tasu'a, the 9th day of the lunar calendar month of Muharram, ahead of the day that witnessed the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam al-Hussein Bin Ali [AS].

Iran Press/Iran news: Tasu'a precedes Ashura on the 10th day of Muharram, when Imam Hussein [AS], a grandson of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad [PBUH], and his 72 companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala, in southern Iraq, in 680 AD after fighting courageously for justice against the much larger army of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I.
