Iran Press/ Iran News: In a televised speech on Wednesday morning about the COVID situation in Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called it the first and urgent issue of the country and emphasized the decisive actions and decisions to combat the disease, and gave advice to the officials and people.
Ayatollah Khamenei called the need to deal with the mutation of the virus, the use of new and strong defensive methods and stated: "The loss of more than 500 lives in one day and the grief of their families, as well as the suffering of tens of thousands of people with their diseases and medical problems, is really painful, and the hearts of every Muslim and compatriot are burning with grief, so we have a duty to deal with the situation."
The leader of the Revolution referred to the president's one-week deadline for gathering proposals and deciding on the COVID situation in the country and said the answer to the issue should be carefully considered at the duo time, and any necessary action should be decided decisively and acted upon.
Ayatollah Khamenei also considered the exhaustion of the medical staff and the physical and mental pressures on them as a great concern and appreciated the doctors, nurses, and medical teams.
The leader of the Revolution stressed the need to expand diagnostic tests and pointed out: "At the beginning of the outbreak, general diagnostic tests became commonplace, which was a good thing and should be done by the health network with the help of Basij."
Ayatollah Khamenei called on the administration and insurance companies to provide free and comprehensive diagnostics and testing to all people, citing the high cost of COVID diagnostic tests.
The leader of the Revolution stressed the widespread supply of the vaccine, saying that fortunately, it was streamlined by producing the vaccine domestically, while before that, despite paying the price, foreign sellers did not fulfill their part.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that vaccines, whether imported or domestically produced, must be provided with double effort and in any way possible to all people.
"Despite the shortage or absence of drugs in pharmacies and hospitals, it is said that the same drugs are sold in the black market at multiple prices, which indicates a problem in the distribution network which must be solved," the Leader pointed.
Referring to the strong presence of the armed forces in the first months of the fight against the disease, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the armed forces to do their best to help the people.
The Leader called the lockdown a specialized decision that needed to be reviewed at the National Task Force for Combatting Coronavirus and stated that the authorities should act decisively on any decision reached.
Ayatollah Khamenei blamed part of the problem on non-compliance with health protocols and called on people to follow the protocols fully with the same sensitivity as in the first months of the outbreak so as not to endanger their own lives and others.
The Leader underscored that enduring the restrictions for two or three months and fully observing health protocols would subside the pandemic and expressed hope that with the efforts of the officials, the vaccine would be best available to the people in a few months, and after that, even in the face of the outbreak, crisis and the death risk would be reduced.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that the nation and the country need Muharram mourning rituals, but the health protocols must be followed carefully in holding them.
The Leader advised the organizers of the Muharram mourning and the participants to observe the health protocols and social distancing and asked them not to let the Muharram mourning rituals intensify the outbreak.
In the end, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed hope that God would save the Iranian nation and all human beings around the world from the evil and problematic pandemic.
