Moscow (IP): Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman said the success of the Russian Olympic team in Tokyo showed that Moscow could not be left out of the world sports arena.

Iran PressEurope: Maria Zakharova, at a ceremony for the return of Russian athletes from Japan referring to the ban on Russian national anthem and flag for athletes at the Tokyo Games following sanction on Russian sport, Said: "The Russian Olympic team victories, successfully responded to those who tried to counter Russian Sport with political motives in Tokyo and use their conspiracies to undermine the high Olympic values."

The Tokyo Olympics ended on Sunday. Russian athletes finished fifth in the competition, winning 71 medals, including 20 gold, 28 silver, and 23 bronze.

In the last six years, dozens of Russian Olympic athletes have been accused of doping and banned in multi-Olympic competitions.

Many have been forced to reclaim their medals and be barred from participating in sports.
