Tokyo (IP) - The Iranian heavyweight karateka won the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal, gaining referees' approval on Saudi Arabia's Hamdi disqualification.

Iran PressAsia: The Iranian heavyweight karateka Sajjad Ganjzadeh reached the finals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as he went on Tatami against his Saudi rival on Saturday. 

Ganjzadeh was 3 points left behind the Sudi athlete Tariq Hamdi, but with a fault blow, the Iranian opponent was taken out of Tatami by trolleys.

The referees voted in favor of Ganjzade, so he won the gold medal.

Sajjad Ganjzadeh regained consciousness moments later.
