German Chancellor Angela Merkel in her last official visit to the UK met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss various issues including Covid travel restrictions on Friday.

Iran PressEurope: During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues, including bilateral relations, the fight against the Coronavirus, regional and international issues.

The German chancellor has traveled to the UK as travel restrictions have hampered citizens of the two countries with the highest levels of trade relations in Europe.

Germany is the UK's second-largest trading partner after the United States. More than 730,000 British citizens now work for German companies every day, and more than 21,000 Germans study or work in the UK.

According to British media, public opinion in this country hopes that Boris Johnson can reach an agreement with Merkel on the reduction of travel restrictions, at least for people who have been vaccinated twice.

The German Ministry of Health has placed the UK on the list of high-risk countries due to the rapid spread of the delta type of coronavirus in that country and has made it difficult for British citizens to travel to Germany.

In fact, British citizens should be quarantined for 14 days, according to German government regulations, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated.

The number of people infected with Delta coronavirus in the UK has reportedly quadrupled in the past month.
