In meeting with EU foreign policy chief

Antalya (IP): In a meeting with the EU foreign policy chief, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the need to lift US sanctions and the impossibility of renegotiating the JCPOA, and expressed hope that the Vienna talks would be fruitful.

Iran PressAsia: Zarif met with the High Representative of the European Union Josep Borrell on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday.

During the meeting, Zarif reviewed the latest status of the Islamic Republic of Iran's talks in Vienna and stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran's approach regarding the need for lifting all the US sanctions and the impossibility of renegotiating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Referring to the bitter experience of the Iranian people regarding the US breach of the deal under ex-president Donald Trump, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed hope that the ongoing talks in Vienna would be fruitful.

Zarif referred to the current situation in Afghanistan and described the differences between the government and other political currents as one of the serious problems in dealing with insecurity in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, Joseph Borrell expressed hope for the outcome of the Vienna talks and reviewed the latest situation in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Latin America.

The Iranian Foreign Minister left for Turkey on Thursday to attend a meeting of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

The head of Iran's diplomatic apparatus has met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the Afghan High Reconciliation Council, Salahuddin Rabbani, former Afghan Foreign Minister, and Venezuelan Foreign Minister.
