Iran Press/Iran News: In a message to Hamouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the People's Assembly of Syria, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf congratulated the successful holding of the presidential election and the election of Bashar al-Assad as President of Syria.
Ghalibaf's message reads: "Holding this election with a large turnout, despite foreign political and psychological interference and pressure, is a great success for the Syrian people and promises a bright future.
"Iranian parliament wants to expand cooperation between the two countries in various fields, Ghalibaf noted.
The Syrian presidential election was held with three candidates in competition, and the Syrian people received it well.
According to the speaker of the Syrian parliament, out of 14 million and 932 thousand Syrians who participated in the presidential election, 13.5 million voted for Bashar al-Assad.
Mahmoud Marie and Abdullah Salum Abdullah, the other Syrian presidential candidates, received 470,276 votes (equivalent to 3.3 votes) and 213,968 votes (equivalent to 1.5).
