Incumbent Syrian President Bashar al-Assad won the presidential election with more than 95 percent of the votes.

Iran PressMiddle East: The speaker of the Syrian parliament, Hamouda Sabbagh, announced in a press conference a few minutes ago that Bashar al-Assad won the presidential election with 95.1% of the vote.

According to the speaker of the Syrian parliament, out of 14 million and 932 thousand Syrians who participated in the presidential election, 13.5 million voted for Bashar al-Assad.

Mahmoud Marie and Abdullah Salum Abdullah, the other Syrian presidential candidates, received 470,276 votes (equivalent to 3.3 votes) and 213,968 votes (equivalent to 1.5), respectively.

The speaker of the Syrian parliament announced a 78% turnout in the presidential election.
