The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned Saturday the attacks by the Israeli army against the Gaza Strip and called on the international community to act to stop the escalation of the war in the area.

Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the loss of human lives and urged prompt action against such attacks.

It denounced what it described as indiscriminate attacks against the Palestinian civilian population, school centers of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and a group of national journalists. The facts 'clearly reveal the disproportionate and indiscriminate nature of the attacks,' the document stresses.

Meanwhile, thousands of people demonstrated this week in the main cities of the country against the Israeli occupation of the eastern Jerusalem al Quds and the bombing of the Gaza Strip, an escalation that has so far killed more than 130 people, eight of them in Israeli territory.
