Tehran (IP)- Iran's Parliament speaker said that he always had a supportive view of Iranian sports, both in the public and championship dimensions.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking at the opening ceremony of the wrestling house of  martyr Mostafa Sadrzadeh, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated: "Sport is one of the social issues and phenomena; it is not marginal and useless."

Ghalibaf added: "Sport has a great impact on the society's physical and mental health; championships can present a new face of the country in the world."

He went on to say: "In sports, especially that are rooted in Iranian culture, we can have the most output with the least input."

"Iranian officials have a duty to pay attention to both public and professional sports. If public sports do not develop, championship sports will not grow, and identifying and paying attention to sports talents is one of the important issues, which must be taken into account," Ghalibaf highlighted.

"We believe that spending money on sports is an investment. We should not ignore sports in the current situation while the coronavirus outbreak has made limitations, and inactivity has also caused psychological damage," he noted.
