On Monday night, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, arrived in the Austrian capital Vienna to attend a meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission.

Iran Press/Europe: The 18th Joint Commission meeting of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action members was held via a video conference with the presence of the Iranian and P4 + 1 delegations on Friday, and the participants decided to continue the meeting in person on Tuesday in Vienna.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the virtual meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission stated that Iran will stop the nuclear compensatory steps as soon as the sanctions are lifted and verified, and he emphasized that the US path to return to the deal is quite clear.

Following the virtual meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission, it was announced that a US delegation would also be in Vienna on Tuesday and would hold talks with the remaining members of the JCPOA, except Iran.

At the same time as the news broke, Araghchi announced in a statement that only the current members of JCPOA will be present at Tuesday's meeting in Vienna and that the United States will not attend any meeting attended by Iran, including the JCPOA Joint Commission.

Under Trump's administration, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA in defiance of international resolutions and imposed maximum pressure on Iran by imposing unprecedented sanctions, and even during the outbreak of the coronavirus, it prevented Iran from gaining access to its resources in other countries for the import of medicine and food.

Two years after the US withdrew from the JCPOA and the European parties delayed in fulfilling their obligations under the agreement, Iran began to take steps to reduce its obligations and announced that if all sanctions are lifted and the other parties fulfill their obligations, it reverses the compensatory measures.
