Iran Press/ Iran News: In a meeting of governors-general of the country held on Monday, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said that Interior Ministry was in charge of the presidential election to be held safe and secure.
Rahmani Fazli emphasized the Interior Ministry's readiness to hold presidential, Parliament (6 constituencies), the Assembly of Experts, and 'City and Rural Council' elections.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on June 18, 2021. However, the election can be held earlier under exceptional circumstances, such as the deposition, resignation, or death of the President. It will be the thirteenth presidential election in Iran.
"People's presence is vital, so it is the Interior Ministry's duty to get everything ready across the country for people to cast their vote in a safe and secure situation. Since several months ago the presidential election's roadmap has been prepared," added the official.
Rahmani Fazli went on to say: "The coronavirus can painstakingly have an impact on upcoming Iran's presidential election, so in tight cooperation with the Health Ministry, all of us can make nonstop efforts not let that happen."
Rahmani Fazli has urged the IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) and Guardian Council to assist the Interior Ministry in holding Iran's presidential election in the best possible way.
In a further remark, Iran's interior minister warned about the fourth wave of the coronavirus outbreak, stressing everybody to fully observe hygienic protocols.
Emphasizing the negative social, economic, and political impact of the COVID-19, Rahmani Fazli said it was not just Iran that was grappling with the fourth wave of the variant but the whole world.
