The Afghan Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a helicopter belonging to the Afghan security forces crashed in the Behsud district of Maidan Wardak province last night.

Iran press/ Asia: Nine Afghan security force members were killed in the helicopter crash in central Afghanistan late on Wednesday, including four members of the flight crew and five others, Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Ruhollah Ahmadzai according to the defense ministry.

Reuters reported that the helicopter was hit by a rocket while taking off.

The ministry said it was investigating the cause of the crash.
