Iran's Foreign Minister said in a Twitter message "the Islamic Republic believes that nuclear weapons and all weapons of mass destruction must be eradicated."

“In utter hypocrisy, @BorisJohnson is ‘concerned about Iran developing a viable nuclear weapon’. On the very same day, he announces his country will increase its stockpile of nukes,” Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on Tuesday.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always insisted that nuclear weapons have no place in its defense doctrine and what prevented the country from producing a nuclear weapon was the Islamic thought and principles that "forbid the construction of any weapon, whether nuclear or chemical, that kills ordinary people."

"The UK will grow its nuclear warhead stockpile by more than 40% to ensure its security in a more risky global environment and as it faces new technological threats," British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday.

Britain had previously been reducing its nuclear weapons stockpile, and in 2010, the government set a cap of 180 warheads for the mid-2020 period. Johnson scrapped the earlier limit and said the number would now rise to a maximum of 260.
