Rouhani:
Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman water transfer plan; source of great change in Eastern Iran

Tehran (IP) - The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran described the plan to transfer water from the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman to the central plateau and the eastern region as a very great and historic plan for the balanced development of the country.

Iran PressIran News: Hassan Rouhani on Sunday in the inauguration ceremony of 5 parts of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea water transfer project to Hormozgan, Kerman, Yazd, Isfahan, South Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces as part of Iran’s national surge in the production plan, referring to the measures taken by the government in the field of water and soil, added: "In the last eight years, there has been not only a surge in water and soil projects but a great revolution.”

Congratulating upon the arrival of the Holy month of Sha'ban, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated: "The implementation of the huge project to transfer water from the Persian Gulf and the Sea of ​​Oman to the central plateau and eastern regions of the country, has not only paved the ground for providing a platform for development but also has brought about other honorable achievements."

Rouhani further elaborated: "The initiative of our country's youth in knowledge-based companies in building the pumps required for these water transmission lines has led to self-sufficiency."

Referring to the study of this huge national project, Rouhani stated: "Environmental experts were concerned that returning the desalinized water to the Persian Gulf would cause damage to the environment, so we made the implementation of this project acceptable by accepting the cost of implementation and further operations, subject to the transfer of desalination plants to the Oman Sea without environmental hazards."

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that the southern Persian Gulf states had been extracting water from the Persian Gulf for many years, and stressed: "Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs should seriously pursue the implementation of environmental considerations by other countries which have been extracting water from the Persian Gulf as well as desalinating it for years."
