Turkey, Afghanistan FMs confer over phone

The Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Afghanistan exchanged views on the inter-Afghan peace process.

Iran press/Asia: Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke on the telephone with Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar about the peace process.

According to diplomatic sources, the two sides also exchanged views on the Afghan peace process meeting to be held in Istanbul, Turkey next April.

With the suspension of talks in Doha, the Russian-backed Afghanistan Peace Conference is scheduled for March 18 in Moscow, and the US-backed peace conference will be held in Turkey next month.

Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem told Reuters: "Taliban has received an invitation from Moscow  to attend the conference, but no decision has yet been made on whether to attend the talks."

The Taliban has not commented on attending the Turkish peace conference.
