Tehran (IP) - Iran's ministry of foreign affairs said on Friday that under the auspices of Iran and Russia's leaders and senior officials, the cooperation between the two countries along serving the common interests had gone beyond the bilateral relations, paving the ground for establishing the regional and international security.

Iran PressEurope: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Friday morning on the twentieth anniversary of the Treaty on the Basis of Mutual Relations and Principles of Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation.

The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads: "The twentieth anniversary of the 'Treaty on the Basis of Mutual Relations and Principles of Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation' coincides with the exchange of messages between the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation."

The Foreign Ministry stressed: "The Islamic Republic of Iran views the Russian Federation as a strong neighbor and friend on the basis of cooperation and mutual respect and is interested in further expanding its relations with this country in all fields."

The statement added: "In the light of the will of leaders and high-ranking officials, cooperation between the two countries in the pursuit of common interests has transcended the boundaries of bilateral relations and entered into regional and international security assistance and is stronger than ever."

Iran and Russia are in full solidarity against unilateral and inhuman sanctions, Western interference in the affairs of other countries, preventing third parties from playing a role in their relations and respecting international rights, the statement concluded.
