Russia's envoy to international organizations in Vienna called for a meeting on the US return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as soon as possible.

Iran Press/Europe: Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's representative to international organizations in Vienna, in an interview with Russia 24 on Friday evening, said: "Moscow calls for a meeting as soon as possible to facilitate the return of the United States to Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Last Thursday, the UK, France and Germany withdrew from their US-backed plan to pass a resolution criticizing Iran on the IAEA Board of Governors, Reuters reported, citing diplomatic sources.

The new US administration, headed by Joe Biden, has announced that it intends to return his country to the agreement, given that they unilaterally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

However, in recent days, Biden government officials have said that they will return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) after Iran steps back from retaliatory measures. The remarks come as Washington has unilaterally withdrawn from the nuclear deal.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has stated that, given that Washington has been the one side that violated the agreement, and the reduction of Tehran's obligations were in response to the illegal action of the United States, any step will be taken by Tehran after the lifting of sanctions by the US.
