Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that Iran-Korea relations have been affected by Korean banks' illegal actions in the past two and a half years and stressed that South Korea should provide access to Iran’s Central Bank's financial resources in its banks as soon as possible.

Iran press/ Asia: South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-Yong had a telephone conversation with Mohammad Javad Zarif to discuss the latest developments in relations between the two countries.

Zarif expressed hope that South Korea would provide access to the central bank's financial resources in its banks as soon as possible.

Referring to the illegal actions of Korean banks, he said: "Unfortunately, the relations between the two countries have been affected by the illegal actions of Korean banks over the past two and a half years, especially in the difficult conditions of the corona outbreak and the Iranian people's need for these resources."

In this conversation, the South Korean Foreign Minister also stated: "Conducting this conversation in a situation that is less than three weeks after his appointment shows the importance that South Korea attaches to relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran."

He added that he is determined to use all his power to solve Iran's resources with Korean banks.

Referring to the confiscated Korean ship, Chung Eui-Yong thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for releasing the crew and expressed hope that the ship would be released as soon as possible.

Zarif considered the ship's seizure a technical issue that is being investigated by the judicial authorities and noted: The Iranian government has spared no effort to provide consular access and all health and welfare facilities and services to the ship's crew.

Regarding the latest developments in JCPOA and the actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in its interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Korean side stated that it supports the continuation of talks between the members to restore JCPOA.
