Iran Press/Middle East: The International Criminal Court ruled on Friday that it has jurisdiction over war crimes or atrocities committed in the Palestinian Territories, paving the way for a criminal investigation, despite Israeli objections.
Reacting to the ruling of the International Criminal Court, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the court proved to be a political group rather than a judicial organization.
Welcoming the decision, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the Hague tribunal's ruling on the jurisdiction of the Occupied Palestinian Territories within the 1967 borders was a historic day for the principle of justice and punishment of Israel, according to Al Mayadeen
The US State Department also expressed concern over the ruling in The Hague.
At the same time, the Palestinian people, who have repeatedly complained about the Zionist atrocities against them, considered it a historic day and an important judicial achievement.
According to the Security Council resolutions, the 1967 borders are considered the borders of Palestine, and the construction or activity of Israel in these areas is illegitimate and illegal.
