The United Nations Security Council is decided to address the recent coup in Myanmar in the upcoming session on Tuesday.

Iran PressAmerica: As Reuters quoted UN diplomats, this UN Security Council session would be held after Myanmar's military arrested and seized power from Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the ruling National Democratic Union Party, and several other party leaders, including President Win Myint.

Myanmar's National Unity Party, led by Aung San Suu Kyi, claimed victory in the by-elections three months ago with about 83 percent of the vote, but the military has nullified the election results by accusing the ruling party of rigging the election.

The Myanmar military coup, however, quickly met with regional and international reactions.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi, as well as Myanmar's president and some members of the ruling party.

Following the military coup in Myanmar, the European Union, the United States, Turkey, Japan, Canada, Singapore, India and Australia condemned the coup and called for a return to democracy in Myanmar. 219
