The Foreign Ministers of Iran and Ireland in a video conference with his Iranian counterpart conferred on issues related to bilateral relations.

Iran PressIran News: In a video conference on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Irish foreign affairs minister Simon Coveney conferred on issues related to bilateral relations, the UN Security Council, and Iran-Ireland views on important issues in the Middle East region.

The ministers discussed how best to contribute to serving the JCPOA, as the fruition of multilateral diplomacy. They agreed that Ireland in its new capacity as the facilitator of the UNSC resolution 2231, is well-placed to contribute to serving this purpose.

Zarif thanked the Irish Foreign Minister for taking the initiative to call and invited his Irish counterpart to visit Tehran.

It should be noted that Ireland took over its seat on the Security Council as a non-permanent member on January 1, along with Norway, and would hold this position for two years. 219
