Tehran (IP) - IRGC chief commander called ballistic missiles capable to hit targets in the ocean as a major defense achievement for Iran.

Iran PressIran News: Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)'s first stage of 'Great Prophet-15' drills was launched on Saturday in the general area of Iran's central desert.

On the sidelines of the drills, Major General Hossein Salami referred to the objectives of the final stage and added: "One of our main goals in defense policies and strategies is to be able to target enemy warships, including aircraft carriers using long-range ballistic missiles."

It is common to hit moving targets at sea using low-speed cruise missiles, but targeting moving objects in the ocean from central regions of the country is a great achievement due to the long-distance, he pointed.

The first stage of the drills was held yesterday with the mass launching of ground-to-ground ballistic missiles and assault-drones' operations in the general area of Iran's central desert.
