Senior Advisor to Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs and the UN Special Envoy for Syria have announced their support for the Syrian Constitutional Committee's fifth meeting.

Iran PressIran news: The UN Special Envoy for Syria "Geir O. Pedersen" met and conferred with Senior Advisor to Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs on Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji on Monday, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced,

During the talks, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria, including the upcoming meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, developments related to the Astana process, and the escalation of ISIL terrorist activities in Syria.

Reviewing the Constitutional Committee's achievements in 2020, the two sides stressed the committee's need to move forward in 2021 and expressed their support for the fifth meeting of the committee to be held later this month in Geneva.

Pedersen and Khaji also expressed concern over the recent escalation of the activities of terrorist groups, especially ISIS, in Syria, and stressed the need to continue the fight against terrorism.
