Najaf(IP): The Iranian ambassador to Iraq called for developing economic cooperation between the two countries in a meeting with "Najaf Ashraf" Governor on the sideline of a trip to the holy city of Najaf at the first anniversary of the Martyrdom of Lt Gen Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Iran PressIran news: "Iraj Masjedi", Iran’s ambassador to Iraq, on Saturday met with "Najaf Ashraf" Governor Luay al-Yassiry to discuss ways to strengthen joint cooperation in all mutually interesting fields including economic cooperation and tourism.

The governor of Najaf Ashraf also supported the joint projects between Iran and Iraq and talked with the Iranian ambassador about expanding cooperation, especially in the field of tourism and pilgrimage.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq receive several thousands of tourists and pilgrims to holy places every year due to their cultural and religious commonalities.

Attending martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis tomb, the Iranian ambassador to Iraq paid tribute to the martyr on Saturday.

Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of the Iraqi PMU (Al-Hashd al-Shabi), and Lt General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC's Quds Force, along with eight others of their companions, became martyred in a US military terrorist attack on their convoy departing Baghdad airport on Friday morning, January 3, 2020.
