Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem has extended condolences for the martyrdom of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing him as the "leader of the nation and guide of the resistance" and vowing to continue the fight against American and Israeli hegemony without fatigue.

Why it matters:

This statement is issued following the martyrdom of Iran's most critical spiritual and political leader and signals that despite the loss of its exated guide, the militant group is projecting continuity and an uncompromising stance against the West and Israel during this critical period after the U.S. Israeli violation of Iran's territory.

What They're saying:

"We in Hezbollah offer our condolences and congratulations to the Islamic nation and the free people of the world on the martyrdom of the leader and guardian of the Muslims, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei," Qassem said.

He added that the leader of the nation met his Lord during the holy month of Ramadan while "guiding the path of jihad and resistance against the American and Israeli hegemons."

Sheikh Naim Qassem characterized the event as an organized crime, stating, "The assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei and a group of commanders is the height of an organized crime and a stain of shame on the forehead of humanity."

"We in Hezbollah will continue the path of resistance with steadfast will, a spirit of martyrdom, and without fatigue or hesitation," it reads.
