Tehran (IP) - The latest figures released by Iran's health ministry show a continuous sharp decline in COVID-19 active cases (currently infected patients) in the country.

Iran PressIran News: The Spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health Sima Sadat Lari announced on Thursday that 1,183,182 people in the country have been infected with the coronavirus, and 924,685 of the total infected people recovered.

According to definitive laboratory findings from yesterday to December 24, 2020, newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 was 6,178 cases out of whom 924 patients were hospitalized, Lari stated.

She noted that in the past 24 hours, 152 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 54,308.

5,371 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, according to her.

So far, 7,253,750 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted across the country, the health ministry spokeswoman pointed out.

Currently, 205 cities are in the orange zone, and 243 are in the yellow zone, Lari said.
