The 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution was celebrated at the embassy of Iran in London with the participation of ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, and representatives from dozens of countries and international organizations.

Why it matters:

The celebration serves as a pivotal moment for Iran to reflect on its historical journey, highlighting the challenges faced and the advancements made over nearly half a century despite the sanctions imposed by the West led by the U.S.

The big picture:

For over 47 years, the United States has tried through severe sanctions, threats, and war to overthrow the Islamic Republic system chosen by the Iranian nation in the 1980 referendum, but has been defeated each time by the Iranian people’s vigilance, resistance, and self-sacrifice. The latest U.S. and allies’ attempt via “maximum pressure” and the June 8-9 riots to subvert the Islamic Republic was neutralized by the Iranian nation’s display of power and unity.

What he's saying:

Ali Mousavi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the U.K., speaking at the ceremony to celebrate 47th anniversary of Islamic Revolution stated that occasion is a reminder of the collective decision and movement of the great Iranian nation to realize its right to self-determination and to achieve independence, freedom, religious democracy, and progress.

Mousavi added that over nearly half a century, Iran has faced relentless pressures, including the eight-year imposed war, severe sanctions of the West, and acts of sabotage and terrorism.

Nevertheless, by relying on domestic capabilities, national unity, and its skilled human capital, the country has achieved remarkable accomplishments, he noted.

The Iranian ambassador emphasized that Iran has made significant progress in diffrent areas and referred to the recent U.S.-Israeli-instigated unrest during the country’s economic protests, stating that once again the Iranian people, through vigilance and responsible participation, neutralized the designed scenarios aimed at destabilizing the country.
