Senior Iranian civilian and military leaders joined massive nationwide rallies marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution on Wedensday.

Why it matters:

The turnout underscored national unity and renewed allegiance to the path of independence, dignity, and resistance despite sustained pressure from the U.S. and its allies.

The big picture:

Each year, the anniversary of the Revolution becomes a referendum on the Islamic Republic’s popular legitimacy, and this year’s marches again projected solidarity between the people and the state across cities and villages nationwide.

Participants from all walks of life chanted revolutionary slogans, reaffirming loyalty to the founding principles of the Islamic Republic, obedience to the Leader, and determination to continue the course of progress and sovereignty.

Some top official participants:

  • President Masoud Pezeshkian
  • Foreign Minister Abbs Araghchi
  • Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf Judiciary chief Hojjatoleslam Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei
  • IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Pakpour
  • Law Enforcement Commander Brigadier General Ahmadreza Radan
  • Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi

On the ground:

Similar large-scale gatherings unfolded simultaneously across the country.

Go deeper:

The Bahman 22 rallies have long symbolized the living bond between the Iranian nation and the Islamic establishment, demonstrating that external coercion and information warfare have failed to erode public commitment to the Revolution’s vision. The annual celebration also sends a regional message in West Asia that the Resistance Axis draws strength from a society that continues to actively defend its political identity and strategic choices.
