Nigerian top officials along with world ambassadors from Asia, Africa, Europe, religious leaders, and journalists gathered in Abuja on Monday to celebrate the 47th anniversary of Islamic Revolution of Iran.

Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution continues to serve as a landmark in the history of freedom against the Western imperialism not only for Iranians but across the world.

On 1st February 1979, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, late Imam Khomeini returned to Tehran after the 15 year exile in Iraq, Turkey and France. 
His arrival which was welcomed by the millions of Iranians in the streets marked the pivotal moment of the Islamic Revolution in the country. A turning point in the world history that became a source of inspiration for other nations.

The Iranian national anthem was displayed before the welcoming address and speeches of the Iranian ambassador and the Nigerian Government official. Also, videos of the Iranian historical sites, beautiful cities and other attractive places were played.

Iranian ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Mahdavi Raja said in the ceremony that the Iranian ambassador to Nigeria stated that the 1979 Islamic Revolution was a historic expression of the Iranian people’s will, rooted in faith, national identity, and the pursuit of independence. 
He emphasized that the revolution overthrew a foreign dependent dictatorship and went beyond a mere change of power, laying the foundation for national sovereignty, popular governance, and the restoration of Iran’s dignity and independence.

 

 

Mahdavi Raja said that despite ongoing military, political, and media pressure from the U.S. and the Zionist regime, Iran will firmly defend its security while pursuing diplomacy based on mutual respect, rejecting negotiations grounded in threats or coercion.
