The powerful explosion shook the surrounding area. According to initial reports, at least 31 people have been killed and more than 169 others injured in the attack. The injured have been shifted to PIMS Hospital and Polyclinic Hospital in Islamabad.
Eyewitnesses warned that the death toll could rise further due to the severity of the blast.
Tarlai is a densely populated suburb of Islamabad, predominantly inhabited by Shia Muslims. Following the explosion, police and other law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area, while ambulances continued to transport the wounded to nearby hospitals.
