Puerto Rican professor, Ramón Grosfoguel, in an interview with IranPress, said that the U.S. and its allies follow a consistent pattern to overthrow governments, including sanctions, currency devaluation, fake news, and color revolutions, emphasizing that “the same CIA manual is being applied in Iran right now.”

Why it matters:

According to Iranian authorities, coordinated attacks took place on January 8 and 9 in several cities across Iran by terrorist groups, supported by the United States and Israel. The attackers caused extensive damage to public and private property, including setting fire to residential buildings, private vehicles, ambulances, buses, and commercial shops.

Iranian officials have stated that the incidents resulted in 3,117 fatalities, of whom 2,427 are martyrs including security defenders and civilians. Several video footages show terrorists using bladed weapons and firearms to contribute to a rise in civilian casualties.

What he's saying:

The Puerto Rican professor, Ramón Grosfoguel, said in an exclusive interview with IranPress that the United States and its allies follow a repetitive pattern to overthrow governments they oppose, which he described as a “CIA manual.”

He argued that this process begins with economic pressure, stating that “the first thing they do is sanctions,” aimed at making “the population annoyed with the government they want to topple.”

According to him, this is followed by currency devaluation through “financial mechanisms at an international level that are unperceivable for the people inside the country,” leading to hyperinflation.

As a result, he said, “people suffer because they cannot purchase food, they cannot purchase medicine,” and public anger is redirected toward the targeted government rather than external actors.

The professor described the next phase as a media and street operation, commonly referred to as “color revolutions.”

He stated that these movements are “manipulated by the CIA and Mossad,” using disinformation and “fake news about what is going on in the country” to fuel unrest. He also said that armed groups are deployed to escalate violence, saying they “put paramilitary people in the streets like snipers to kill people and then accuse the government.” Referring to cases such as Syria, Venezuela, and Egypt, he stressed, “this is a classic… they’ve done this in so many countries now that we cannot be naive,” adding that “the same CIA manual is being applied in Iran right now.”
