Ayatollah Khamenei said: The continuous goal and policy of the United States, not just its current president, is to swallow Iran and restore its military, political, and economic domination over our country. A nation of this size, population, resources, and scientific and technological progress, located in such a sensitive geographic center, is something they cannot tolerate."
He described the U.S. President’s referring to vandals and murderers as the Iranian nation as a grave insult to the people of Iran and highlighted the U.S. president's overt encouraging of the rioters:
"So, we consider U.S. President guilty for the casualties, damage, and slander he directed at the Iranian nation."
Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei told people that the recent riot was different from the previous ones in that previously either the U.S. press, or second-tier U.S. official, or European countries intervened in the unrest, but this time the U.S. president himself stepped in to take part in the sedition. He called on the Iranian officials to pursue the U.S.-Israeli crimes in the international bodies.
The Leader explained that those involved in the recent unrest fell into two groups. The first group, he said, consisted of individuals selected and trained by U.S. and Israeli intelligence services, a number of whom have been arrested. The second group was made up of teenagers and young people who had no foreign connections but were influenced by the first group to engage in wrongful actions.
He added that, under the guidance of the trained elements, these individuals took part in the destruction of religious, educational, industrial, and service centers, causing extensive damage to the public and to infrastructure.
He referred to the U.S.-Israeli-backed rioters inhumane acts—such as trapping and burning several young people alive in a mosque, or killing a three‑year‑old girl and defenseless, innocent men and women—and stated:
"These actions were part of a pre‑planned scheme of sedition. The perpetrators were equipped with both cold weapons and firearms that had been brought in from outside the country and distributed among the elements involved to carry out such crimes."
Emphasizing that the Iranian nation broke the back of the sedition, Ayatollah Khamenei said: With its in-millions strong presence on the 22nd of Dey (January 12), the Iranian nation turned this day into a historic chapter in its long record of honors and silenced the sedition by delivering a firm blow to the loud mouthed claimants.
He also touched on media representation of the small group of the rioters by global media outlets tied to Zionist interests and their denial or downplaying of the massive crowds of the Iranian people on the 22nd of Dey, calling the exaggeration and denial nothing more than habitual behavior of the Israeli media. He said: Such actions do not change reality. Reality is what the nation itself witnessed with its own eyes in Tehran and other cities.
Iran's Leader highlighted the U.S. failure in its 12-day war on Iran due to the unity of the Iranian nation and stressed: "They launched this sedition with extensive preparations for larger plans. The nation, of course, extinguished the sedition, but this is not enough, and the United States must be held accountable for its actions."
He assigned the relevant apparatuses, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to pursue the U.S. recent crimes, saying: "We will not lead the country toward war, but we will not abandon domestic criminals, and even more so, international criminals. This matter must be pursued through its proper methods and correct procedures."
Ayatollah Khamenei, repeating his constant advice on preserving unity among the people, said: "Factional, political, and partisan disputes, and partisan disputes should not spread among. All of us must stand together, side by side, in defending the Islamic system and our Iran."
