Iraqi Prime Minister says the decisive victory over the Daesh terrorist group (ISIS) owes to Iran's support and the endeavours made by the Resistance Front's late commanders Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Why it matters:

The commemoration of General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi in fact is a renewal of the collective history about the foreign-backed plot of Daesh to fragment the entire region of West Asia.

Flashback:

On January 3, 2020, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), acting on orders from then-President Donald Trump, assassinated Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU). The two were leading figures in the fight against Daesh (ISIS).

What he's saying:

Muhammad Shia al-Soudani says, "The Zionist regime seeks to carry out its evil plan, knowing that Iraq is the anchor and cornerstone of stability in the region."

"Six years ago, in a violation of national sovereignty and a brutal act of aggression, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and General Qassem Soleimani were martyred.

"Martyr Soleimani's services are immense, and no one can deny them, until he was martyred on Iraqi soil."

"Martyr al-Muhandis sacrificed everything he had for Iraq and its sovereignty."

Context of remarks:

Soudani made the remarks at the sixth martyrdom anniversary of the Resistance Front commanders General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, was held on Sunday, at the Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad with the presence of military and civilian officials.

Attendees included President of Iraq Abdul-Latif Rashid, Speaker of Iraqi Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi, Head of the Supreme Judicial Council Faiq Zaidan, leader of the Hikma Movement Ammar al-Hakim, and Head of the Popular Mobilization Units Falih al-Fayyadh.
