What he's saying:
Mohammadreza Zafarghandi, speaking at the 31st Razi Festival of Medical Sciences Research and Technology held early on Monday at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, noted the extensive investments by regional countries in medical sciences to secure global recognition. He stressed that this intense competition serves both as a warning and a motivation for Iran: neglecting it would mean falling behind.
In another part of his speech, the minister referred to the issue of good and bad research and said that bad research causes problems.
He also addressed the development of chemical weapons, stating: “During the eight-year war, Saddam began deploying chemical attacks. By 1983, Iraq used chemical bombs for the first time. Who manufactured these weapons? Researchers in certain European countries, whose names I will not mention, supplied them to Iraq.”
“As a result, we suffered more than one hundred thousand chemical casualties; tens of thousands sustained severe injuries, and thousands were martyred by chemical attacks,” the minister added.
