Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking on the occasion of National Nurses' Week on Sunday, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, saying: "The nurse is the angel of mercy for the sick. This is a true interpretation and is never an exaggeration. It deals with both the patient's body and the patient's soul."
National Nurses' Week is being celebrated throughout the country from December 16-22.
He expressed his congratulations to the nurses and to the nursing teams on the occasion.
"We hope that God Almighty grant you, dear nurses, good fortune, and happiness in this world and the hereafter."
"I consider it necessary to offer my condolences to the dear and beloved families who lost their loved ones who were nurses in these coronavirus incidents and to ask God Almighty for the exalted degrees for those who sacrificed and fought hard," said the Leader.
"Today, nurses are dearer in the eyes of the people and more dear and honorable than ever," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
Nurses are compassionate and kind to patients and they prepare for this task and get tired, he said. "At the same time, they tolerate and smile where they should smile at the patient."
"Trying to reduce the pain of a human being is one of the most beautiful scenes in human life," noted the Leader.
"This beauty showed itself more in this corona–hit year. Our nurses in the hospitals showed scenes that are truly making humans amazed," he stressed.
"Nursing itself is a difficult and anxious job. Now, if in addition to this difficulty and anxiety, there is a risk of infection, this makes it a lot harder. Our nurses did the harder burden," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"Although their own lives were in danger and they were likely to become infected themselves. In fairness, our nurses did a great job during this time," he added.
This struggle made the nurses dear, the Leader said. "So in the eyes of the people, they became dearer and more honorable than ever."
