In the latest episode of the Hebrew podcast “Confidence”, Danny Citrinowicz explained that Iran has, in recent years, activated a wide media network in Africa, broadcasting Iranian channels in multiple languages, including local African languages.
He specifically mentioned several Iranian outlets: Press TV, Al-Alam, HispanTV, and Hausa TV.
As he says, these channels form part of Iran’s mechanism of influence in African societies, combined with Islamic religious centers, cultural institutions, social media, and activities of the Iranian Red Crescent, creating avenues for social and political interaction.
Citrinowicz noted that in countries such as Nigeria, the Ivory Coast, and Senegal, Iran has managed to gain influence among the Shia communities and segments of local public opinion. He admitted that these activities have, in some cases, influenced government decisions.
The Israeli expert acknowledged that a significant portion of Iran’s activities in Africa are carried out through soft power, using media, cultural, and religious networks.
