UN Secretary-General António Guterres met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha ahead of the Second Global Summit on Social Development. He thanked Qatar for its role in brokering the Gaza ceasefire and called for a political horizon toward a Palestinian state.

Why it matters:

The meeting comes amid renewed violence in Gaza, where a fragile ceasefire brokered by the U.S. has been repeatedly violated by Israel. Guterres emphasized the need for a negotiated two-state solution.
