Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the recent statements by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief and Oman’s Foreign Minister confirm that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons, rejecting false claims made by Israel and the U.S.

The big picture:

The IAEA’s Director General recently clarified that Iran "is not and has never been" developing nuclear weapons, and Oman, as a trusted intermediary between Tehran and Washington, echoed that assessment. These statements may open a window for renewed dialogue between Iran and Western powers.

What they're saying:

In the past 48 hours, the heinous lie that the bombing of Iran was motivated by an imminent nuclear threat has been thoroughly debunked, Araghchi wrote on X.
"Iran did not kill diplomacy, those who blew up the negotiating table did it", he added, accusing Israel of targeting diplomacy to further its "Iran Demonization Project."

Key points:

  • IAEA chief Rafael Grossi stated that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons.
  • Oman’s Foreign Minister, Al-Busaidi, confirmed there was no Iranian nuclear threat.
  • Araghchi accused Israel and the U.S. of spreading disinformation to justify their aggressive actions.
  • He called on Washington to “reverse course” and return to diplomacy.
