In an interview with Al Jazeera, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued strong warnings to Israel and addressed Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, regional tensions, and the possibility of renewed negotiations with the West.

Why it matters:

The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions following recent military confrontations between Iran and Israel. Araghchi’s statements signal Tehran’s readiness for retaliation while leaving the door open to indirect diplomacy.

What he's saying:

Abbas Araghchi noted Iran is “prepared for all scenarios” and expects “any aggressive behavior” from Israel.

“We are more ready than ever on all levels,” he said, warning that Israel would face “another defeat” in any future war.

Araghchi asserted that Iran gained “significant experience” from its recent conflict and tested its missiles in real combat.

He accused Israel of attempting to expand the conflict regionally by targeting Iranian oil facilities.

“We managed the war with Israel effectively and prevented its spread in the region,” he added.

He asserted that Israel would not have launched a war without a “green light” from the U.S.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a “war criminal,” the Iranian FM proved Israel is the region’s “true enemy.”

with respect to nuclear talks, Araghchi told al-Jazeera that Iran is open to negotiations to ease concerns over its nuclear program, which it insists is peaceful.

A fair agreement is possible, but Washington has imposed “unacceptable and unrealistic conditions,” he siad.

Araghchi ruled out any talks on Iran’s missile program, calling disarmament demands “irrational.”

“We cannot stop uranium enrichment,” he said, adding, “What is not taken by war will not be given through diplomacy.”

Iran prefers indirect talks with the U.S. and believes an agreement is still achievable, FM Araghchi added.

He noted that nuclear materials remain buried under bombed facilities and have not been relocated.

While acknowledging damage to buildings and equipment, he emphasized that Iran’s nuclear technology remains intact.
