Why it matters:
The latest attack underscores Israeli regime’s continued breach of the fragile truce in southern Lebanon, raising fears of renewed confrontation between the Israeli regime and Lebanese resistance groups.
The big picture:
Since the establishment of the ceasefire, Israel has conducted hundreds of drone attacks across southern Lebanon, despite international calls for restraint. These ongoing operations have deepened instability in the border areas and strained Lebanon’s post-conflict recovery efforts.
Details:
An Israeli drone strike hit an area between the towns of Tibnine and Haris in the south of the country on Tuesday evening.
Two people were injured and transferred to Tibnine Hospital for treatment.
Israel has been carrying out near-daily attacks across Lebanon in violation of the ceasefire it reached with Hezbollah and the Lebanese government in November.
Go deeper:
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the repeated Israeli attacks, calling them “a challenge to Lebanon and to the international community,” urging international bodies to hold the regime accountable for its actions.
