Rima Hassan, a Franco-Palestinian member of the European Parliament and a participant of the Sumud Flotilla, announced in a social media post that the fleet is expected to reach Gaza tomorrow, even as Israel makes major preparations to intercept it.

“Each km is an additional symbolic victory,” Hassan said on X.

Latest:

The Global Sumud Flotilla, a fleet of dozens of ships, has entered the “high-risk zone”, 120 nautical miles (222 km) off the Gaza coast, an area where previous flotillas have been attacked or intercepted by Israeli forces.

What they're saying:

Following last night’s Israeli attacks on the Sumud Flotilla, a press conference kicked off where Thiago Ávila and Lisi Proenca, the captains of two leading boats that came under attack, delivered speeches.

  • Ávila has said the Israeli military was attempting psychological warfare against parts of the flotilla by circling them.
  •  The military cut off connections by disabling devices, which disrupted cameras, livestreams, and communications systems that relayed messages to the world, as well as affecting navigation.
  • Ávila reported that their ship, the Alma, sustained structural damage and continues to suffer from electronic and mechanical issues.

David Adler, an activist aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla and co-general coordinator of Progressive International, has posted his possible “final letter” on X as the flotilla draws closer to Gaza, now just 120 NM from the coast.

He wrote: "Last night, several Israeli naval ships menaced our convoy. They attacked our vessels, intimidated our crew, and disabled our communications. As I write this, we are preparing ourselves for such an imminent attack. We know the procedures. We know the protocols. When they board our boats, we will not resist. We are ready".

Meanwhile, Matt Thistlethwaite, an assistant to the Australian Foreign Affairs Minister, voiced concern over reports of drone attacks on the flotilla.

"I am deeply concerned by the alleged drone attacks on the Global Sumud Flotilla and the risks to the safety of Australians and other passengers onboard,” Matt Thistlethwaite said.
