Tehran is currently hosting the first "Ancient Iranian Cuisine Festival" with the aim of reviving forgotten dishes, coinciding with National Tourism Week.

The event seeks to bring historical and traditional foods back into contemporary life, support local communities in generating income, and enhance Iran’s position in the field of culinary tourism.

 

The big picture: 

The ceremony, taking place at a culinary academy, is attended by officials from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, along with managers, researchers, and tourism activists. Mohammad Javad Haghshenas, Advisor to the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, was among the key participants.

 

Details: 

In the competition, 12 chefs from various provinces prepared traditional dishes, with three winners selected by the judges: Zahra Rostami, Arnika Mardani, and Shiva Mohammadpour were respectively chosen as the first, second, and third winners of this event.

At the closing ceremony, the second “Flavors Across Culture” festival, which is scheduled for October 2026, was also unveiled.
