Speaking on the sidelines of his visit to New York on Wednesday, Pezeshkian told Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter that Iran is ready for verification of its peaceful nuclear activities within the framework of international law and its own rights. He stressed that Tehran welcomes diplomatic dialogue to resolve the issue, but warned that if the UN snapback mechanism is activated, further talks would lose their meaning.
The Iranian president also highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that innocent children and women are dying due to shortages of food and medicine. He urged Switzerland to play an effective role in preventing the continuation and escalation of crimes by the Israeli regime.
Pezeshkian further expressed Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation and elevate bilateral relations with Switzerland.
President Keller-Sutter, in turn, commended Pezeshkian’s constructive stance, emphasizing that both Iran and Switzerland share the goal of promoting global peace. She welcomed Iran’s engagement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and said she strongly believes that diplomatic dialogue is the best path to resolving issues and strengthening bilateral relations.
The Swiss president also underlined her country’s condemnation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, Qatar and Iran and affirmed Switzerland’s commitment to facilitating a ceasefire as quickly as possible.
