Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has held talks with the President of the European Council, António Costa, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Pezeshkian reiterated that the Islamic Republic has never sought to build nuclear weapons and will never pursue such a path. He stressed that Tehran is ready to cooperate in order to clarify realities and disprove the baseless allegations leveled against the country’s peaceful nuclear program.

“The responsibility for the current situation lies with those who violated their commitments and withdrew from the JCPOA,” the president emphasized, referring to the 2015 nuclear agreement abandoned by the United States in 2018.
